For many years, the humanitarian crisis occurring in Venezuela has haunted me and provided the motivation to create a series about this tragedy, even if it is a difficult subject matter to represent.  For some time, countless innocent people are being treated horribly with policies and actions mandated by the government.  Anyone opposed to the government such as students, rival politicians, and journalists have been imprisoned without justification in jails that perform the most barbaric rituals.  My heart has always been with those in Venezuela that are suffering. For this reason, I started to work on a series titled “Colorless Liberation”. As the social-political subject matter of this series has an obscure and depressed side, I included a symbol that is very significant to Venezuela. The vibrant parrot known as the Guacamaya, which symbolizes that even in midst of darkness, there can be glimmers of positive signs for many Venezuelans.
